Hurricane Isabel is making her way to the east coast...I have a friend in N. Carolina who expects to be out of power shortly, though should be out of direct danger in her area. i experienced my first and only hurricane, Floyd, in 1999 and though in the end Savannah was spared, it was a scary few days worrying, getting ready and then having to evacuate..once we were safely inland (in Not-Atlanta) things became decidedly more upbeat. it's the flooding that is really worrisome...Savannah floods at the drop of a hat even on a good day, though this time i believe that they are out of the storm path.
according to our satelite news channel, Sky, people in evacuated areas who have chosen to stay behind are being told by local police to write their names in indelible ink on their arms so that their bodies can later be identified. damn! that's one way to convince them to go.
